Only two of the seven bills the Coalition supported in this legislative session have passed out of their originating house, but the NGV industry nonetheless made progress on its long-term agenda of advancing clean transportation in California.
The Coalition is tracking the following bills and others that affect alternative fuels and vehicles throughout the legislative session. July 14 is the last day for policy committees to refer fiscal bills to fiscal committees, and July 21 is the last day for policy committees to hear and report bills. Summer recess begins July 21, provided that the Legislature has passed the state budget bill.
The legislature passed California’s multibillion-dollar transportation bill, SB 1, with a provision that blocks rules requiring truck owners to upgrade or purchase cleaner models. It is likely to make it more difficult for port operators to move to ultralow-emission fleets.
The Coalition is actively working on two bills, AB 476 and SB 53, that could significantly increase the market for NGVs, and closely tracking several other bills that also could drive the NGV industry forward.
