Advocating for Low NOx Truck Solutions in California

California Low NOx Solutions

The California Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition is an advocacy and education association that represents natural gas vehicle and engine manufacturers, utilities, fuel providers and fleet operators serving the state. We support the broader adoption of low NOx heavy-duty trucks fueled by renewable natural gas (RNG) as the solution to helping California immediately achieve its emission reduction goals. The combined use of RNG with low NOx engines is a “game-changer” in our fight against the existential threat of climate change by delivering significant reductions in short-lived climate pollutants, like black carbon and greenhouse gases, while lowering air toxins and NOx to offer direct air quality and public health benefits.

The Coalition in Action

We work with state regulators and legislators throughout the year to shape and advance NGV-related policies. Examples of the Coalition’s regulatory work include providing crucial information on NGV market economics and technology developments to the California Energy Commission and California Air Resources Board, contributing technical analyses to the state’s well-to-wheels fuel-cycle emissions reports, participating in Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) working groups, and serving on the Advisory Committee for the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.

The CNGVC is the industry’s premier advocacy organization in California.

Moving Renewable Natural Gas Vehicles Forward

We support new initiatives, provide up-to-date information on NGV technology and market developments, and work with legislators and regulators to develop policies that will increase alternative fuel and vehicle use. We also advise stakeholders on testing and demonstration programs and help NGV-related businesses break into the California market.

Renewable natural gas could displace over 900 million gallons of diesel fuel a year in California.
